it’s so surreal, SO weird to think that LeBron James is finally going to get a ring
i mean, the Heat winning the championship, okay, whatevs, nbd
but LeBron James is going to get a ring
that shit cray
Is it possible that Kobe Bryant/Dwayne Wade is the biggest rivalry that no one talks about? Somehow LeBron choking (which he didn’t, let’s be honest. The guy scored about 15 points in the last 5 minutes of that game) is the biggest story, surpassing the events that transpired between #24 and #3.
By now we all know that Wade broke Kobe’s nose on possibly the most non-flagrant flagrant foul in All-Star Game history. During the fourth quarter of the game, Kobe & Wade were going toe-to-toe. On one end Kobe would trap Wade in the corner and cause a turnover. Wade seemed to be a little perturbed at this, and 4 or 5 possessions later would foul Kobe after being beaten on the baseline by a spin move. While everyone else was free to dunk if they were free, Wade chose to foul Kobe. And this wasn’t in the fourth when everything was super intense, this was with 8:46 left in the third quarter. Definitely not a foul fit for the All-Star game.
Malicious? Maybe. Kind of surprisingly he didn’t seem to see if Kobe was alright after fouling, nor choosing to do so after everyone realized Kobe’s nose was bleeding. Then after the game he had some interesting comments about Kobe breaking Jordan’s All-Star scoring record, and his foul on Kobe:
With Kevin Durant in the league, I don’t know how long that’s going to last.
Obviously I didn’t try to draw no blood … but I took a foul. Kobe had fouled me twice in a row right before that.”
This all becomes interesting because as great as Wade is, he’s always seen as second to Kobe when talks of the best SG in the league come up. Eventually you’d have to think this gets to a person, especially as his stats have been better than Kobe’s for the past couple of seasons. In fact, if not for Kobe (and his teammate LeBron) Wade would probably be seen as the best player in the NBA since 2006 when he almost single-handedly beat the Mavericks in the NBA Finals. Oh, and let’s not forget this. It’s like Kobe constantly pwns Wade at every turn.
Much can be said about Kobe’s response too, or lack thereof. No complaining, arguing, expressing anger to Wade. Just went to the free-throw line, shot his free-throws (after receiving medical attention), and then proceeded to play the remainder of the game. No biggie, really. He only had a mild concussion and a broke nose, which no one knew about because he didn’t make a big deal of it.
Possibly the saddest part of all of this is that if this happened to LeBron or Wade, you can be rest assured the game would’ve stopped for 5 minutes, and they likely wouldn’t have played for the remainder. Going to be a sad day when Kobe retires, not many warriors left in the NBA.
yes, Linsanity goes just a little too far sometimes. yes, the puns are ridiculous. yes, the Heat totally shut down the Knicks last night.
still, I’m on the Jeremy Lin bandwagon, and not at all ashamed to admit it. I adore he and Landry’s little handshake, and I want to try his new Ben&Jerry’s ice cream flavor (they should consider expanding it outside of Harvard Square! Lin grew up in the Bay & was on the GSW, you know!).
I’m taking 3 ASAMST classes this semester, I feel like I should know exactly what Jeremy Lin means to me. What he embodies for the Asian American community. But I don’t. I haven’t been able to quite articulate my feelings. Maybe I won’t ever be able to, either.
But I’m riding this bandwagon as far as it goes, and then some… because his meteoric rise is nothing short of inspirational!

but for today, just today… it’s true! I may have a CS project due tomorrow that I’m kind of fucked for, I may have gotten a 24/40 on the midterm last week, I may have accidentally forgotten to drop my Chinese dance decal before the drop deadline (I can either start going to class next week being absolutely behind, or just flunk the class. Leaning toward the latter b/c I’m just so exhausted, urgh!), I may have two midterms next week that I haven’t studied for, and I may have wasted my entire weekend reliving my middle school childhood with the roommate while clogging my arteries w/ unhealthy fried foods (so good!)… but my life is amazing today, because my hometown Clippers are coming up to play the Warriors.
& I love the Warriors as much as anyone can love the team of their newly adopted (second?) home, but I can’t scream my lungs out for Steph Curry - not this time, no -
cause tonight I’m watching the motherfuckin Los Angeles Clippers!
Jeremy Lin all over the News Stands
I went to the Blazers @ Warriors game today! I don’t think I’ve screamed this much in months. Anyone who’s ever mentioned the Warriors to me know that I JUST WON’T SHUT UP about Steph Curry (Monta who?..). & he delivered tonight, scoring a season-high 32 points, on top of 7 assists and 6 rebounds. LaMarcus Aldridge was amazing too (totally snubbed from the All Star Game last year!). It was also really cool watching Craig Smith again, because I was really fond of him while he was on the Clippers.
This was the highlight of my
incredibly overwhelming week.
Plus, I really, really love Warriors fans. There’s something about them. They’re fun, loyal, and not obnoxious at all (at least, not the way Lakers fans are). Diggin that Bay Area vibe :)
that last minute of the Dallas-OKC game was craaaaaay! It was all that I saw, but it was all that I needed to see. I love Kevin Durant.. this guy needs to win MVP this season.. so stoked I get to watch Thunder @ Warriors in February.. I just… aurghhgh words can’t even.
now back to the Knicks-Lakers game
Metta World Peace
